Umberto Impellitteri, Team Crazy Downhillers, and Lionel Lefever, Poker21, launched a two-man attack after 55 km of Stuttgart - München. Both riders agreed on cooperating, which they succeeded in. 5 km before they reached the finishing line, they knew that they could do it (win), and they increased the speed even more. They kept the speed high until they reached the final km where they shook hands. Umberto Impellitteri launched the sprint, and managed to keep Lionel Lefever behind him all the way to the finishing line.
When the peloton arrived at the end of the stage, they still had the third place to fight for. Gilberto Morais safely brought the third place to his team, Torreira.
The stage today was perfect for me. I felt good in my legs, and when the attack got launched, I had a feeling that I could do this, said Umberto Impellitteri to the interviewers and continued: I couldn't have done this without my team or my manager; they have a just a big part in this win as me.
It's good to see Umberto Impellitteri fulfilling his ambitions winning this stage. He deserves the victory more than anyone else, said the proud manager of Team Crazy Downhillers, Rene Rasmussen, and continued: The team was a good support for him (Umberto Impellitteri) today, and he clearly proved his worth in the break away today.
